Introduction:

I have been a Anime fan ever since I watched shows like a.o Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon as a kid. To the "uninformed" Anime sometimes has a lot of stigmas like it being just for kids for example, in truth however anime is as (if not more) diverse then any other medium out there. Anime has stories ranging from your general kids shows to adult drama, sports, slice of life, horror and everything in between (and beyond).
Next to the stories that it tells I also really like the "general" Anime art syle in and of itself. One of the other plus sides for me personally is that with it not being live action and thus already disconnected from real life it helps a lot with my suspension of disbelief. Anything fantastical and impossible is easier to except and feels more natural with it all being animated instead of it being real life or a combination of real life and (shitty) CGI.
This interest in Anime then spilled over into an interest in Manga, the live streamers / entertainers that I watch (Vtubers) and a general interest in the cultural differences depicted in these media compaired with my own (as well as the differences between the fictional depiction and real life). It has even slipped into my music preferences with more and more Anime soundtracks and JPop creeping it's way into my previously Metal and Rock dominated playlists.
All of this in combination with me really liking some specific series and liking having physical representations of my feelings towards these series as well as genuinely just enjoying looking at things I think look cool, cute and / or beautiful have caused me to have build up some collections related to Anime (and Manga, Vtubers, Japan, Etc.).

Dragon Ball (DBZ, DB Super, Etc.):

Info: |
Ever since I was little Dragon Ball (including it sequels DBZ, GT, Super) have been one of my favourite series. When I first started watching the orginal Dragon Ball it was the German dub on a German TV channel. We did not have a lot of "cartoon" channels due to not having cable television at the time, so I did not have any other choice. When I was a little older I watched DBZ and GT in English with Dutch subtitles. I have since (re-)watched Dragon Ball, DBZ, Dragon Ball Kai, Dragon Ball GT, (most of) Dragon Ball Super and all of the movies with the original Japanese dub and english subtitles. The series now claims 2 shelfs in one of my Detolfs. I also have some lower quality figures that I got together with some other better ones, these are dispalyed tucked away in one of the corners of my hobby room. More pictures of the figures can be found on the dedicated: Figures & statues photography page. |

Just a little before the debut of the first Hololive English generation in mid 2020 was when I became aware of the world of Hololive (and Vtubers in general). It started after I saw the name "Hololive" pop up more and more as the source of the characters on the cute art work that showed up on my feed and I decided to look-up what is was.
![]() Expand to show me gushing over my favourites and why... What I found was a group of amazing (at the time mainly Japanese) talents that live streamed using cute "Anime" avatars instead of a normal facecam (and an overall generally pleasant fandom surrouding it). This put me on the edge of what in the fandom is called "the rabbit hole", what pulled me in fully was the debut of the first generation of English speaking talents. I do enjoy some non Hololive Vtubers (a.o. Amano Pikamee, Kizuna AI and Kson for example), but my main focus is on the talents within Hololive production. It is amazing how Cover / Hololive managed to get such a large group of streamers that are all entertaining and multitalented. A large draw for me personally is the musical content they bring out, ranging from karaoke streams, professional covers, original bangers to full CD's and 3D live concerts. Of cource this also includes whatever weird shit Haachama is up to. Another is how they work amazingly off each other in collaborations and feel like a tight "family" group together. This especially can be seen when one of the famous duo's or named sub groups collaborate (おかころてぇてぇ. SMOK is love, SMOK is life). And while I have my personal favourites (obligatory YAGOO ![]() My personal favourites are Nekomata Okayu (love her voice and her singing), Ookami Mio (her singing is in the absolute top of Hololive for me), Ninomae Ina'nis (Ina's streams are just so ridiculously comfy and her art is sublime). But like I said, all of the others are not far behind ぺこ. ![]() Down the rabbit hole: For watching the live streams I advise using the Holodex website instead of Youtube for a much better viewing experience (at least on PC). One of the many benefits of Holodex is a build in Translater filter, if you do not care for the other benefits of Holodex then you can also get a stand alone LiveTL app / extension that filters messages from translaters in the chat for streams not in your language. A large part of the (western) fandom can be found at the official hololive production subreddit. ![]() Expand for videos, clips and music to get you starting down the rabbit hole... Videos and clips:: A somewhat older but famous introduction / explanation video regarding Vtubers. A playlist of "discover" videos with a general overview for all the talents. A playlist of videos following a "normal" streamers descend into the rabbit hole. A playlist of videos with talkshow syled interviews of Japanese Hololive talents live translated by a Hololive EN talent. Official teaser for hololive Alternative (1st). Monogatari Series:

Info: |
I am pretty happy with my Monogatari Series collection so far. It is one of my favourite series (Anime, Books and general). It has therefore claimed an entire shelf for itself in one of my display cases as well as a place on some of my walls and in my Vinyl collection. Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade / Shinobu is my favourite character (from the show and in general). This can be easily seen as most of my owned merchandise is of her. More pictures of the figures can be found on the dedicated: Figures & statues photography page. |
One Piece:

Info: |
Another series that has claimed atleast an entire shelf. One Piece has over a 1000 episodes and has been with me as one of my favourite series for well over a decade now. The fact that I have been a fan for so long also shows in the dubious quality of some of the figures. In the past a combination of buget restrains and a lack of knowledge caused me to buy figures from unverified sources, this has caused some of them to be lower quality and / or knockoffs. Over the years I have been "phasing" these out and replacing them with better official figures. When I see one I like for a reasonable price I will pick them up and the old one will be moved to storage or dispalyed in my hobby room. Next on the list for replacement are probably Sanji and Zoro. |
